Our years of experience within the industry allow us to manufacture and provide high-quality PCBs that meet the stringent requirements of the aerospace industry.

We offer a bespoke service, with a proven track record of building PCBs for aerospace for over 40 years. Our start-to-end PCB assembly service, ensures that we are meeting the necessary safety specifications every step of the way.

While the standards needed to be met for printed circuit boards within the aerospace industry are meticulous, our expert team is well-equipped to bring the best quality service and consultation throughout.

Providing bespoke PCB services for over 40 years!

We are well-versed in the standards of the aerospace industry. Due to the nature of their use and the harsh environments they are exposed to, such as radiation, chemicals and pollutants, PCBs for aerospace have strict design and assembly standards that must be adhered to throughout the process. The need for durability and reliability with the PCBs created for the aerospace industry sets the design and assembly process apart from other PCB manufacturing. AS 9100 is the quality standard that manufacturers must work towards, however, there are several standards which also span across QMS requirements, fabrication and testing. IPC-A-610E Class 3 is another standard which applies to PCBs, whose uninterrupted functioning is required even under the harshest of conditions, such as those used within the aerospace industry.

At ABL Circuits, we have years of experience working to meet these standards, ensuring they are meticulously adhered to, to create a product that has a long shelf life.  In order to do this, we select materials that are made from the highest quality, such as Anodized aluminium, due to its thermal conductivity. Using copper-heavy technology allows for high heat dissipation without the need for extra cooling systems. We also work alongside the production of flex and rigid flex boards within aerospace PCBS, as they offer strong resistance to vibrations, shocks, temperature, and outside agents, as well as superior mechanical and electrical connection, all while being low weight.

Our factory is well-equipped to create the necessary environment for quality boards to be produced to adhere to aerospace standards. The factory is strictly electro-static discharge (ESD) controlled, including ESD clothing and footwear for all manufacturers.  There are also temperature and humidity controls, to provide the right protection for the boards.

Taking it one step further, we ensure all our boards have precise traceability. Sometimes things can go wrong, but with our unique QR codes we can track the boards and the components to identify the source of any issue. This means we can track the batch this has come from to help prevent errors in future.

How have we helped previous Aerospace partners?

We have worked with several aerospace partners over the years, from Airbus to 365Aero. Our experience includes creating a variety of boards for several different products, including:

  • Cockpit instrumentation
  • Safety lighting for aircraft
  • In-helmet communication technology
  • Head-Up Display (HUD)

These are just a few examples of the innovative products we have helped to create for modern-day aerospace technology. As well as creating the boards for these products, we offer a unique start-to-end service, offering consultancy at every step of the journey. This means excellent service from concept to design, all the way through to assembly. Each brief that comes our way is an opportunity to add to our knowledge and experience within the industry.

How are Aerospace printed circuit boards used today?

PCBs are commonly used within the aerospace industry and play a vital role in the functioning of a number of systems, such as inflight communication systems and satellite technology. If you’ve ever had the excitement of seeing the inside of a cockpit, much of the cockpit is powered by circuit boards. The head-up displays, screens, GPS systems and communications systems you see, which are integral for the safe running of both commercial and private flights, are run by printed circuit boards. The majority of PCBs used within the aerospace industry for these projects are multilayer PCBs, consisting of three layers of conductive material to improve performance and reliability.
