Case Study
Restoring vintage aircraft isn’t just about looking the part- it’s about ensuring they fly safely and operate reliably. When the team behind the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight noticed feedback in communications systems during flight, they needed a solution fast. Clear channel separation was essential for safety, precision and preserving the authenticity of their vintage Spitfires, Lancasters and DC-3s.
They came to ABL Circuits because we offer a complete PCB solution - design, CAD layout, prototype manufacture, and full assembly - all under one roof and in the UK. Their requirement: an audio isolator PCB to isolate different voice channels between crew and pilot, eliminating feedback.
Our engineers turned their specs into a circuit diagram and parts list. Once approved, we developed the CAD layout tailored to the aircraft’s constraints. In just a few days we manufactured the PCBs; in one additional day we assembled working prototypes. The finished product met the spec exactly and solved the communication issue. The crew now has separate channels with no feedback, improving safety and preserving the immersive experience of flying these historic aircraft.
ABL Circuits is proud to have played a part in supporting such a prestigious project. It’s a strong example of what happens when speed, quality and specialist expertise come together.
